BIRMINGHAM, AL. A private public safety company is launching a new tool to help small law enforcement agencies, colleges, hospitals and security companies to be able to track crime in “real time” and thereby stopping criminal acts and apprehending the bad guy in their tracks. And the RTCC will be much more than a security company’s central station monitoring a bunch of cameras.
For about a dozen years, many law enforcement agencies across the country have put together a live surveillance control center where analyst and police officers monitored cameras in high crime and high traffic areas, while also using License Plate Readers, Gunshot Detection and Facial Recognition to help officers to respond to crimes in “progress” instead of just responding after the fact.
The Real Time Crime Center is a force multiplier and allows law enforcement an opportunity to witness crimes and respond to situations as they are happening instead of after the crime has been committed.
Unified Public Safety, a private law enforcement and protective service agency has offices throughout the Southeast including Alabama and have provided public safety and protective services since 1989. The owners are current and former law enforcement officers, each with more than forty years of experience in public safety.
Unified said that they will be partnering with both private entities as well as small to midsize law enforcement agencies, and that their 24-hour center will be staffed by highly trained and certified crime analysts and have all of the same technology that law enforcement uses in their centers.
Additionally, the Unified Real Time Crime Center is a member of the National Real Time Crime Center Association and other professional security and law enforcement organizations and associations.
Unified Public Safety said that their Real Time Crimes Centers will be located in Huntsville and in South Alabama and will be operational by the end of the year.

FOLEY, Ala. Multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies caught many off-guard as they raided the Colt Grill in Foley during Tuesday’ lunch hour, which was part of a larger investigation, federal agents said.
Federal agents armed with search warrants entered the restaurant located on Highway 98 and Alston Street, and could be seen removing multiple boxes, which was presumed to be some sort of evidence. Agents continued their work at the business for more than two hours.
Homeland Security said the raid was part of a Gulf of America Homeland Security Task Force operation where federal search warrants were served at multiple locations.
Colt Grill locations were also raided on Tuesday in Arizona as part of a complex criminal investigation involving money laundering and labor exploitation at all Colt Grill Locations, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona.
The Colt Grill has four locations in Arizona and one in Foley.
Federal law enforcement did not say what their investigation entailed.

FOLEY, Ala. On Tuesday morning, our news desk was notified by law enforcement that several raids in Robertsdale and Foley were about to be conducted.
The raids, with search warrants in hand, were being conducted by Federal, state and local law enforcement and involved suspected crimes of drugs, employment of illegal immigrants, money laundering and other state and federal crimes, that law enforcement had been investigating for quite some time.
During the operation on Tuesday, law enforcement served 14 search warrants in Lee, Macon, Elmore, Autauga, Crenshaw and Baldwin counties with dozens of arrests being made.
In Robertsdale the El Patron Mexican restaurant was one of the targets and was suspected of more than just employing illegal immigrants.
According to the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama Kevin Davidson, these searches led to more than just arrests.
“Law enforcement recovered distribution amounts of methamphetamine powder, cocaine, crack, cocaine, assorted pills, more than $100,000 of bulk cash, and at least 20 guns,” Davidson said.
At the center of this investigation was Cesar Campos Reyes, who according to FBI Mobile, surrendered himself in Lee County hours after the search warrants were served.
According to a federal indictment, Campos Reyes fraudulently obtained a Paycheck Protection Program loan by falsely certifying documents tied to restaurants that were raided on Tuesday. Federal agents say the loan funds totaled around $225,000.
Campos Reyes is said to be the registered agent for the businesses and federal agents also raided other El Patron locations in Wetumpka, Opelika and Prattville. Federal investigators also said Reyes is also the registered agent at the El Patron restaurant in Pensacola.
Steven Schrank, special agent in charge for HSI in Alabama and Georgia, said this investigation has uncovered a bigger issue.
“This operation was not about any one offense. It was about dismantling a criminal ecosystem, one that profits from the exploitation of people in the circumvention of our nation’s laws,” Schrank said. “In many of the locations we investigated, we uncovered, not only unlawful, unauthorized employment of aliens, but evidence that may point to a broader pattern of criminal conduct.”
Schrank also said businesses who knowingly hire non-citizens are creating a path for other problems.
“When employers knowingly hire illegal aliens, they create a magnet for exploitation, wage theft and unsafe conditions,” he said. “They also sidestep labor laws designed to protect workers and dissuade honest employers. This creates an underground economy that is often tied to organized criminal activity and puts our communities at risk.
We were told on Tuesday that this is an ongoing investigation and more arrests are possible.

MOBILE, Ala. With THC enforcement happening across the state, the mobile Police Department has announced that they too will be enforcing the law inside city limits.
A new state law now bans the sale and possession of all smokable hemp products, including synthetic forms of THC. The law, which has been in effect for two weeks, also limits the potency of gummies and THC drinks available for purchase.
Retailers are now required to obtain a proper license from the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and will face new enforcement measures. Starting January 1, 2026, consumable hemp products may only be sold to individuals aged 21 and older by licensed retailers in Alabama.
This is classified as a Class C felony, punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.
Prior to the law’s enactment on July 1, four hemp companies filed a lawsuit against the Alabama Governor, attempting to halt the new law. However, their efforts were unsuccessful in preventing the law from taking effect.

The Butting Corporation is investing $61 million to establish its North American headquarters and its first U.S. production facility. Founded in 1777 in Germany, Butting produces stainless steel pipe technology, clad pipes, customized spools and components, and cryogenic pipe and valve technology systems.
