Felony Theft Arrest Made at Daphne’s Dick’s Sporting Good Store

DAPHNE, Ala. A brazen, professional thief entered the Dick’s Sporting Goods located in the 6000 block of US Hwy 90 in Daphne on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, and decided to make some fast cash by stealing products from the store.
The man, identified by police as Devon McCrae Fitzwater, made one mistake when he came up with his plan. He chose the wrong location and the wrong time.
Daphne police heavily patrol the city’s shopping centers, and many retailers have sharp-eyed trained employees who know how to spot shoplifting.
Seems that Fitzwater’s master plan was to cut the security tags off from baseball gloves and head off into the wild yonder, but his plan failed.
Employees quickly notified the police, who were there in minutes.
Fitzwater is charged with Retail Theft in the First Degree, a felony, and is currently behind bars at the Baldwin County Detention Center.
He is currently being held on a $7500 bond.
