Army Captain Faces More Than 40 Felony Charges of Sexual Abuse of a Child and Child Porn Possession

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. A Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children helped law enforcement to arrest an Army Captain on more than 40 felony charges of sexual battery on a child, manufacturing child pornography, and possession of child porn in Walton County.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Sean Benjamin Cushman was arrested on July 15 in South Carolina on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina contacted the Walton County Sheriff’s Office about the case on August 25, 2025.
“The detective who was the lead on the search warrant at Cushman’s home in Aiken, located images and videos on Cushman’s phone of child pornography with a victim under 18 that were believed to be recorded in Walton County,” the sheriff’s office says.
Investigators from South Carolina and Florida coordinated their information and efforts, and Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigators say there were more than 15 videos and photos recorded and taken of the victim in Santa Rosa Beach.
“Cushman currently has active warrants out of Walton County for eight counts of sexual battery on a child 12 years old to 18 years old, 17 counts of possession of child pornography, and 17 counts of manufacturing child pornography,” the sheriff’s office says.
The investigation is continuing.
Cushman was stationed at Fort Gordon in Georgia at the time of his initial arrest.
