FOLEY, Ala. Two more signs of Foley’s growth came to light this week with the announcement of two national businesses opening stores within the city.
Cook Out, a growing fast-food chain that operates primarily in the Southeastern United States, including states like North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia, and West Virginia, has announced that it will be building a new restaurant at 2550 S Mckenzie Street with expectations of its opening in 2026.
Founded in 1989 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Cook Out has expanded significantly, with over 300 locations across 11 states as of 2025. The chain is known for its customizable trays, hamburgers, milkshakes, and North Carolina-style barbecue, making it a popular choice for food lovers in the region.
Currently, there is a Cook Out location in Mobile.
Another popular business has also announced that it too is opening a new store in Foley.
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is opening at 3161 South McKenzie Street, according to a release.
The Pennsylvania-based discount chain is known for offering closeout and surplus goods at steep discounts. With over 500 stores in 30+ states, Ollie’s has attracted shoppers seeking great deals on high-quality products.
Ollie’s buys excess and leftover inventory from manufacturers and retailers worldwide. Whether it’s overstocks, package changes, or products from businesses closing their doors, Ollie’s scores significant discounts and passes the savings to shoppers.
Earlier this year, Ollie’s acquired 40 Big Lots locations through auction, as Big Lots filed for bankruptcy in September of 2024. So far, 18 of those stores have been opened as Ollie’s storefronts.
Currently, there are 21 Ollie stores in Alabama.
