The United States Department of Justice announced that a Mobile man found guilty of drug trafficking and weapon charges has now been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.
The man identified as 30-year-old Tesean R. James was sentenced for trafficking drugs and possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes while being a federal fugitive.
The USDOJ said in a news release that the charges stem from officials finding pistols, drugs, and drug proceeds while attempting to arrest him on warrants.
“In July 2023, federal and local law enforcement agents attempted to arrest James on his fugitive warrant,” the USDOJ release said. “James led agents on a high-speed vehicle chase through a residential neighborhood in Mobile, bailing out of his vehicle and eluding capture on foot. In James’s abandoned vehicle, agents recovered two pistols and seven pounds of bulk marijuana”
“Later, in December 2023, agents captured James in Mobile after a brief foot chase,” the release continued. “Agents executed a search warrant at the house where James had been staying, recovering more than 34 pounds of bulk marijuana, 1.5 kilograms of psilocybin mushrooms, more than $34,000 in drug proceeds, and two guns, one of which had previously been reported stolen.”
James allegedly admitted to knowing he had warrants and was a fugitive and to receiving shipments of drugs. He was ultimately sentenced to serve 180 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
