Police Charge 21-Year-Old Alabama Man With Murder of 4-Month -Old Baby

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. While the fatal shooting of a 4-month-old child is still being investigated, police say that they have arrested a 21-year-old Alexander City man and have charged him with murder.
According to the Alexander City Police Department, officers responded on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, to the 1500 block of J Street after receiving a report of a child who had been shot.
Other emergency responders were also dispatched to the scene.
When officers arrived, they located a 4-month-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Fire medics responded and attempted to render aid before the child was transported to Russell Medical Center, but the infant was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
While conducting an investigation, police were able to identify 21-year-old Ameyun May of Alexander City as the person responsible for the child’s death, however the details of the shooting have not been released.
May was arrested and charged with murder. He was transported to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department to await a bond hearing.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
