ORANGE BEACH, Ala. Now that the Gulf Shores mayor has announced that there will be no music festivals in the city during 2026, the mayor of Orange Beach said that his staff is researching the possibility of bringing a similar event to the beach in their city.
Right now, the mayor said it’s an exploration to see if it can be done and when they might be able to schedule such an event. They are looking at the possibility of it being done during the weekend before Memorial Day.
Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon says almost as soon as Hangout was canceled, he started getting calls asking if they could come up with something.
Kennon says Orange Beach has a beach, too, and plenty of contacts in the music industry. He envisions something on the beach at Coastal restaurant and maybe an evening concert at the Wharf Amphitheater.
Right now, there’s a lot of moving parts and things have to line up in order to hold these types of events.
“If we can get something going for one year to help our accommodations and our businesses and give our local folks something to do, absolutely, we’re going to try. It will not be in competition whatsoever,” said Kennon.
The festival on Gulf Shores has pumped millions of dollars into the coastal economy since it began in 2010.
The mayor said they will make further announcements of the potential events after the holidays.
