The National Weather Service had warned about a “significant” and “historic” snowstorm for south Alabama on Tuesday, and forecasters were right.
Many areas of South Alabama set historic snow accumulations. It was one for the history book!
Mobile got 7.5 inches on Tuesday, which shattered its all-time- record for snow, which had stood since 1895.
And while this is impressive, other parts of the area received even more than that! In fact, some areas saw more than ten inches of snow fall!
Normally, it’s the northern part of our state that has the snowfall bragging rights but not this time!
But that wasn’t the most. Other spots in south Alabama had 10 or more inches of snow, according to reports given to the weather service.
One of the top amounts was 11 inches in Babbie in Covington County.
Central Alabama also got a good amount of snow on Tuesday. One of the higher amounts there was 6 inches near Springhill in Pike County.
