The United States Attorney’s Office announced that an area woman has been sentenced to prison for trafficking drugs and possessing an illegal gun.
They identified the woman as 33-year-old Desiree Rose Carlock.
She has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
According to U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the USAO’s Southern District of Alabama office, narcotics agents were monitoring Carlock in January 2024, when she allegedly drove from Mobile to Pensacola and bought pounds of methamphetamine to bring back to Mobile and sell.
During a traffic stop on February 21, 2024, agents found nearly a pound of methamphetamine and a loaded .380 pistol in Carlock’s car, the release said.
Authorities say that Carlock cooperated with law enforcement and admitted to agents that she had just obtained the methamphetamine from a supplier in Pensacola. Carlock also reportedly told authorities she usually picked up the drugs in Pensacola twice a week, and she sold the drugs to people in Mobile.
Agents searched Carlock’s cell phone and found text messages, photos, videos, and other data related to her involvement in drug trafficking, the release said.
After being released, Carlock was arrested on drug possession charges twice in April, the release said On April 2, again during a traffic stop, agents found Carlock in possession of 21 grams of methamphetamine, according to the release.
Then, on April 22, agents seized another 349 grams of methamphetamine from Carlock, according to officials.
In addition to her 15-year prison sentence, Carlock was ordered to serve a five-year term of supervised release, during which time she will have to submit to drug testing and treatment, the release said. United States District Judge Kristi K. DuBose ordered Carlock to pay $200 in special assessments and forfeit her gun, ammunition and cell phone to the United States.
According to the release, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case with assistance from the Escambia County, Fla. Sheriff’s Office.
