Hazmat Incident Shuts Down Foley Intersection

The Foley police were made aware of a chemical spill at the intersection of Highway 59 and Keller Road Wednesday at around 11:20 a.m.

The Foley Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene as a Hazmat Incident after a caller stated that the spill was quite large.

Firefighters arrived and shut down the roadway as a precaution.

Originally thought to be an oil-based substance, firefighters determined that it was a different fluid, possibly transmission fluid or something similar.
It was estimated that the quantity was about eight to ten gallons.

Officials gave the all clear sign about 90 minutes later.
