An urgent 911 call came into the Baldwin 911 Communications Center Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m. reporting that there was a boater in distress off Clubhouse Drive.
Other callers reported that the boat had capsized and at least one person was now in the water.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area along with the Lillian Fire Department.
The ALEA Marine Police also responded from Orange Beach.
Lillian firefighters launched their fire boat and were able to rescue the person in the water and get him back to shore.
EMS responded to the scene and checked out that person who reportedly
was wet and cold, but otherwise uninjured.
The Lillian firefighters attempted to tow the pontoon boat back to shore but were unable to.
The United States Coast Guard was also notified.
The vessel is currently abandoned and afloat.
