The National Weather Service is still surveying the damage in many parts of Alabama but so far, they are confirming that at least five tornadoes hit the state during Saturday’s strong storms.
Governor Ivey reported on Sunday that at least three people has also died from the storms.
Two of those deaths were in Dallas County near Plantersville and one death has been reported in Talladega County.
According to the NWS, these are confirmed tornadoes:
An EF-2 in Winterboro in Talladega County
An EF-1 in Shelby County (Calera)
Another EF-1 in Shelby County near Highway 25 and County Road 19, between Montevallo and Calera
An EF-0 near Thomas Mill in Bibb County
Some of the other places that reported damage on Saturday are Gordo in Pickens County, Sipsey in Walker County, Lake Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County, Maplesville in Chilton County, Plantersville in Dallas County, Calera in Shelby County and Troy in Pike County.
The National Weather Service offices across the state will continue looking at reports of damage and will send storm survey teams to assess the damage.
There were many other areas that also reported damage to structures throughout the state.
Forecasters said there were 15 to 17 tracks that will need to be studied so it could be a few days before all that work can be completed.
