ALEA Employee Charged With Dissemination of Child Pornography

WSFA An arrest has been made after the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency opened an investigation Wednesday into four “suspicious” letters that were sent to the State House.
Special agents with the State Bureau of Investigation responded around 9:15 a.m. after the letters arrived, three of which were addressed to lawmakers. The fourth letter was addressed to Gov. Kay Ivey.
John Watson, 54, of Dothan, was identified as the suspected sender of the letters, which were found to contain child phonography, according to ALEA.
He was arrested Thursday and charged with four counts of dissemination of child pornography.
Watson was employed as a driver license examiner under ALEA’s Driver License Division when he committed the crimes. He was placed on mandatory leave on Wednesday but resigned on Thursday.
This investigation is ongoing.
