Spanish Fort Gas Leak Causes Homes to be Evacuated

SPANISH FORT Ala. On Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at around 9:30 a.m., 911 received several calls about the smell of natural gas in the area of 12300 Stroh Avenue and the Spanish Fort Fire Department responded to investigate.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they searched the area and found a broken gas line at 1286 Wagner Avenue and determined that nearby houses needed to be evacuated for everyone’s safety while repairs were made.

Police and firefighters assisted with evacuating a few homes nearby and notified the utility company.

There were no reported injuries and residents were allowed back into their homes a few hours later.
