Multiple Agencies Respond to Boater in Distress

BARNWELL COMMUNITY, Ala. Friday night as storms began to move into our area, a Mayday call was sent out by a small boat that was taking on water and in distress on the Mobile Bay west of County Road One.

The Baldwin County 911 Communications Center Dispatched the Barnwell Volunteer Fire Department to the area of the Mullet Point Park, and the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department was also dispatched to the area with their vessel.

Several occupants on board had no personal floatation devices or life vests of any type and the US Coast Guard and the Alabama Marine Police (ALEA) were also dispatched to the area.

According to authorities, assistance was provided and there were no injuries reported.
