Mobile Police Forced to Fatally Shoot Man Who Pointed a Gun at Them

MOBILE Ala. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 8:46 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Dawes Road in reference to a male subject who had threatened to kill a known female in the 9000 block of Scott Dairy Loop Road S. a short time earlier.
Mobile police stated that during the traffic stop, the 75-year-old subject produced a firearm and threatened to harm himself.
Despite attempting de-escalation tactics for an extended period of time, the subject then pointed the firearm at officers who were then forced to engage the subject with deadly force.
Medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene, and the subject was pronounced deceased.
The name of the subject won’t be released until the family is notified.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per protocol, pending the outcome of an investigation.
