Mobile Man Sentenced to Prison For Bank Fraud

According to the US Department of Justice, John Brown Jr. 26, will serve one year in prison for a fraud scheme that victimized area businesses.”
Court documents revealed that Brown’s case was related to Sean White, a convicted fraudster.
In 2022, White recruited Brown as part of a “sophisticated bank fraud scheme” that involved altering business checks that were stolen from mailboxes, according to the release.
The scheme victimized several people by opening bank accounts and depositing altered checks into them, as well as recruiting others to deposit checks.
DOJ said Brown eventually recruited Gabbrielle DuBose to deposit stolen checks into bank accounts, which had been altered to appear that it was payable to Brown and DuBose.
DuBose was sentenced to five years on probation, and White was sentenced to 32 months in prison for their roles.
Once Brown is released from prison, he will be on supervised release for five years. He is also ordered to pay $2,000 after prison.
