Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Man for Possessing and Disseminating Child Pornography

MOBILE, Ala. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June about an area resident who was downloading and exchanging sexually explicit photos of minors.
The ICAC Unit, a division of the sheriff’s department, began an investigation regarding the man, who was identified as JAMES MICHAEL PHILLIPS, who had been downloading and exchanging sexual pictures of minors.
On September 9, 2025, Phillips was arrested at his home, located at 6117 Smith Lane.
During the arrest, Mr. Phillips attempted to wipe data from his computer but was unsuccessful.
Mr. Phillips has been charged with (5) counts of Possession of Child Pornography, (3) counts of Dissemination of Child Pornography, and (1) count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.
For your awareness, the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces, comprising over 5,400 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. These agencies are dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and developing effective responses to internet crimes against children.
A main initiative of the ICAC Task Force Program is also to educate the public through the development and delivery of public awareness and prevention programs.
