Mobile County Deputies Charge Woman With Manslaughter in Fentanyl Death

MOBILE, AL. On August 25, 2025, at approximately 8:15 pm, the Chickasaw Police Department contacted The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a possible fentanyl overdose death at 464 8th Ave in Chickasaw.
The victim, Kailin Laporte, was found deceased at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that PAYTON BEASON (DOB 8/11/2000) and TYLER THOMPSON (DOB 12/29/93) delivered fentanyl to Kailin Laporte.
Both BEASON and THOMPSON were located at a hotel in Saraland.
Both agreed to be interviewed about the overdose.
BEASON stated she sold the fentanyl to Kailin and THOMPSON drove her to the address above to make the transaction.
Inside the hotel room where BEASON and THOMPSON were staying, MCSO Detectives found drug paraphernalia, white powder, pipes and cash.
BEASON was arrested for (2) counts of Possession of controlled substance, Manslaughter, Possession/receiving controlled substance (warrant), and possession of controlled substance (warrant from Saraland Police Department).
THOMPSON was arrested for Use/Possession of drug paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Sheriff Paul Burch has stated, “I promised to go after these drug dealers who are selling and trafficking fentanyl. We will continue to go after these people and work with the District Attorney’s Office in making sure they are prosecuted and held accountable for any and all deaths that occur due to their negligence”.
