IRVINGTON, Alabama — On January 12, 2026, investigators with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a disturbing crime that occurred at the 8000 block of Two Mile Road in Irvington, involving the death of a family dog.
The investigation revealed that in the early morning hours of January 12, 2026, the suspect, Frank Conley, armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the family dog, “Bell,” in the abdomen, puncturing her lungs and causing fatal injuries. Following the incident, Conley buried the dog in the backyard of the residence.
Investigators determined that the killing was allegedly motivated by the dog repeatedly defecating within the home. During the interview, investigators noted a lack of remorse displayed by Conley.
After consultation with the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, investigators confirmed that Frank Conley will be charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
Additionally, investigators are actively examining the possibility that Conley may be connected to other recent animal disappearances in the Irvington area. This aspect of the investigation remains ongoing.
“As a lifelong advocate for animals, this case is especially heartbreaking,” said Sheriff Paul Burch. “No animal deserves to suffer, and acts of cruelty like this will not be ignored in Mobile County. We will continue to pursue justice for victims—human and animal alike.”
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office takes crimes against animals seriously and remains committed to holding individuals accountable for acts of violence within our community.
