MOBILE, Ala.
A police pursuit reaching speeds of over 114 miles per hour and involving several law enforcement agencies, ended in Mississippi Thursday afternoon with at least one police vehicle being damaged.
Police reported that at around 4:30 Thursday afternoon a Mobile police officer spotted a woman in the Tillman’s Corner area driving a car that had been reported stolen.
Police activated their emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled from them heading north on McDonald Road with several Mobile police cars following behind.
Police say that the chase continued for more than forty-five minutes as the stolen vehicle weaved in and out of traffic and getting on and off from I-10, before crossing the Mississippi line.
The pursuit ended when the driver of the vehicle left the Interstate and traveled down a rural road before becoming bogged down in mud and grass and that’s where the driver was taken into custody.
During the pursuit, the driver is accused of intentionally hitting a police vehicle with her car but it is unknown if the officer was injured.
Currently, the driver, who has not been identified, is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated assault on law enforcement, eluding law enforcement, and multiple traffic offenses.
