Mobile Police Pursuit Ends in Crash That Injures Several Persons

MOBILE, Ala.
UPDATE: The Mobile man accused of leading police on a chase last week has been arrested. According to a Mobile Police Department spokesperson, Darryl Wayne Wiley, 41, was released from the hospital and taken to Metro Jail and charged with felony eluding law enforcement and possession and trafficking of cocaine.
Wiley led Mobile police on a chase on Thursday, April 24, before eventually crashing into two trucks in the area of Dauphin Street and Catherine Street.
A police pursuit in Mobile ended with a wreck that injured several people including the person being pursued.
The chase started Thursday morning when Mobile police officers tried stopping a vehicle for a minor traffic infraction at around 10:30 a.m. and that’s when the driver decided not to yield to law enforcement and instead sped away.
According to authorities, the driver hit a vehicle near Dauphin and North Fulton Streets before crashing with another vehicle at Dauphin and Catherine Street and that’s where the pursuit ended at around 11 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
