In 2024 it was announced that a Margaritaville Resort would be coming to Orange Beach and that construction would start soon.
Now, retiring Mayor Sandy Stimpson has stated that a proposal to bring a Margaritaville bar to the rooftop of The National Maritime Museum suggesting that alcohol, history and children would be a good mix for the city.
The museum has already announced earlier that they’re planning a Jimmy Buffet exhibit soon.
The bar would sit on top of the museum’s roof overlooking the waterfront and would serve alcoholic drinks along with food and there the restaurant would not prohibit children according to state law.
At this time, it’s just a proposal and has a long way to go before it’s approved, or the bar opened.
The proposal is coming from the City of Mobile, not from the estate of the late Jimmy Buffett, who died Sept. 1, 2023. No details of the Margaritaville proposal have been developed, and no timeframe has been announced.
