MOBILE, Ala. A Brewton man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison after being found guilty on a dozen counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Jack Clarence Shultz, 52, was arrested, and in a court hearing, prosecutors presented evidence that Shultz communicated with an underage girl for about a year from 2022 to 2023. The jury convicted him of one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and 11 counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
Evidence also showed that Shultz tried to persuade the girl to get into the shower during livestreams depicting explicit conduct. Sometimes, she would comply; sometimes, she did not.
In addition to the prison time, U.S. District Judge Kristi DuBose imposed a $61,200 penalty applicable to defendants convicted of certain sex crimes.
The judge also ruled that Shultz be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for 15 years following his release from prison. He also must submit to a mental health evaluation and treatment and make restitution to the victim.
