Fort Morgan Beachgoer Appears to Have Been Struck by Lightning

FORT MORGAN, Ala. A person was struck by lightning while sitting on a Fort Morgan beach on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026.
The Baldwin County 911 Communications Center received reports that the man was injured and dispatched the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department, a Medstar Ambulance and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department to the area at approximately 12:40 p.m.
A medical helicopter was also dispatched but were able to respond due to the lightning in the area.
Fire medics and EMS personnel treated the person on the beach and transported the patient to an area hospital.
According to the fire department, there was a storm in the area at the time of the incident, but it is unknown if the person was in or out of the water during this time.
The condition of the person is unknown.
