Appliances Stolen From Robertsdale Subdivision Under Construction
ROBERTSDALE, Ala.
As new subdivisions continue to pop up across the Gulf Coast, so do complaints of thefts at the construction sites.
Over the past three years, dozens of thefts of equipment, lumber, tools, and machinery have been reported even when security cameras have been installed to detour trespassers or those up to no good.
Recently in Robertsdale, another new subdivision under conduction has had appliances taken out of new homes during the overnight hours.
Police say that the Ponder subdivision being built by D.R. Horton just off from State Highway 59 has security cameras but that didn’t keep someone from entering the property on several occasions and taking off with microwaves, refrigerators and stoves that were still in their boxes.
Detective Michael Baggett with Robertsdale Police said that he’s talked with neighbors in the area and that it may be a sub-contractor working on the property during the day who is coming back under the cover of darkness and making off with the items.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or see any suspicious vehicles that don’t appear to belong in the neighborhood to call 911.
