Traffic Infraction Quickly Turns Into Pursuit

Mobile police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on Tuesday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 8:11 p.m.
The driver refused to yield to officers and fled police leading them in a pursuit.

Police said that the driver, later identified as Toney Williams, 43, continued from Government Street and Everett Street and ditched his vehicle on Texas street before fleeing on foot.

Officers then pursued Williams on foot, apprehending him and taking him into custody.

Williams is charged with one felony count of eluding police.
