BALDWIN COUNTY Ala. On June 14, 2025, at 11:05 p.m., the Baldwin County 911 Communications Center received a call about a shooting in the Fairhope area and dispatched law enforcement, an area fire department, and EMS to the address.
Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office also responded to what was reported as a domestic situation on Dominion Drive in the unincorporated area of Fairhope, Alabama.
Fire personnel and EMS staged outside of the area and when deputies arrived, they located two residents of the home suffering from serious physical injuries. According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, both victims were flown to a trauma hospital in Pensacola, Fl for treatment.
During their investigation, deputies identified 38-year-old Ryan Thomas Smith as a suspect in the case.
It was determined that Smith fled the scene in a vehicle prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies located Smith’s vehicle on Interstate 65, northbound in Baldwin County, and attempted to stop the vehicle. A vehicle pursuit ensued and ended on Interstate 65 in Escambia County, Alabama after BCSO deputies successfully utilized the Grappler System to stop the vehicle. Smith was taken into custody at that time.
One of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The other person is currently being treated for the injuries that they sustained.
At this time, the victim’s identities are not being released to allow for proper notification.
Smith is charged with Murder and Attempt Murder and has been booked into the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center. Smith is being held on a No Bond, and additional charges are possible.
BCSO investigators are actively working at the crime scene, and we will have a heavy law enforcement presence on Dominion Drive for a large portion of Sunday. There are no other suspects in the case and there is no additional public safety threat in the area.

MOBILE Ala. A combination of local and federal law enforcement is making traffic stops and conducting raids throughout Mobile County according to the sheriff’s office.
On Tuesday, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were given orders by the government to arrest 28 people who are allegedly in the country illegally.
Law enforcement had information that the group was traveling in several vans and had entered Mobile County.
Authorities were able to track the vans as they were traveling on Dauphin Island Parkway and police pulled the vans over for traffic violations, according to a release from Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
Twenty-eight people were found to have entered the country illegally and were taken into custody.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office stated previously and again yesterday that their agency continues to work daily with their Federal Partners to protect the community by faithfully executing the immigration laws of the United States.
Those arrested are currently being processed by Homeland Security in their holding facility, according to the release.
This process involves detention, potentially followed by an immigration court hearing, and could result in deportation if they are found to be in the United States illegally, it adds.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids have been occurring more and more in the state as part of President Donald Trump’s promise to enact the biggest deportation effort in American history.
At least nine 287(g) program agreements with sheriff’s offices are active in six Alabama counties, with three more pending — two with county sheriff’s departments and one with a local police department.
These agreements deputize local officers to enforce federal immigration laws.
Although Mobile County does not currently have one of these agreements in place, Sheriff Paul Burch previously said that his office will help Immigration and Customs Enforcement, “in any way we can.”
The Mobile Police Department has not recently presented information on their involvement in enforcing immigration laws.

FAIRHOPE ALA. The Fairhope police apprehended a 17-year-old from Foley over the weekend and he has numerous pending charges for stealing and breaking into vehicles.
After several reports came in from neighborhoods just east of downtown, officers utilized cameras and additional overnight shifts to focus on the area. Saturday evening, an officer saw the subject, who fled on foot but was then apprehended. The juvenile admitted to the crimes and even had video evidence of himself driving the stolen vehicles.
The juvenile took three vehicles for “joy rides”. One of those vehicles was taken twice. In each instance, the keys were inside unlocked vehicles.
The three vehicle thefts included the following:
Owner noticed keys were missing and then investigators were able to prove that it had been on roads outside of the city
Vehicle was returned with a broken axel
A vehicle app notified the owner that the vehicle had been moved overnight. The offender kept the keys and then returned the keys after taking the vehicle a second night.
Additional burglary charges stem from six vehicles that were broken into in the same area. Five of the vehicles were unlocked. The sixth is the only instance that the vehicle was locked and the subject broke a window to enter. Officers were able to recover a gun, wallet, and gift cards.
The individual will be charged with four counts of Theft First of a Vehicle and six counts of Breaking & Entering a Vehicle. The name of the offender will not be released because of his age.
This investigation is ongoing.

The Fairhope Police Department is currently investigating the death of an individual found outside a home on Prospect Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Initial evidence suggests a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but a thorough investigation will continue, according to police.
The man had no known connection to the residence where he was discovered, and there appears to be no threat to public safety.
Investigators believe this case may be linked to an altercation that took place in the McDonald’s parking lot on Thursday evening, which resulted in another individual being hospitalized for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper leg.
Police did not expound on the circumstances of the Thursday evening shooting.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The Fairhope Police Department working in collaboration with the FBI has made a felony arrest of a person suspected of exploiting an elderly person.
An elderly woman lost over $100,000 in this incident.
The victim, who had recently purchased a new vehicle, noticed charges for an anti-theft service. Upon researching the company’s name online, she unfortunately encountered a spoofed site that led her to scammers.
While trying to cancel her subscription, the person on the line promised to reimburse her for the charges. Subsequently, scammers contacted her, claiming they had mistakenly deposited $100,000 into her account. They then pressured her with fear tactics, threatening her with trouble if she did not return the money.
The scammers collected her personal banking information and installed software on her phone and computer, enabling them to access her devices remotely. They facilitated a wire transfer and pressured her to withdraw money from her bank, instructing her to meet them in a local parking lot. They even visited her home to collect cash.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, law enforcement coordinated another “meet to pay” situation with the suspect, leading to the arrest of 37-year-old Kamal Hussain from Clarkston, Georgia. Hussain was charged with Financial Exploitation of the Elderly.
