A new cannabis testing lab is coming to Foley and the new facility owned and operated by Green Health Laboratories, expects that the new facility will create up to 50 high-paying jobs over the next three years and represent approximately $3.4 million in capital investment for the city.

It will be one of the exclusive testing facilities in the State of Alabama for the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission.

This testing lab is necessary because of the new Alabama Medical Marijuana laws that recognize the use of cannabis for medical purposes. Several grower licenses have now been issued and the next step in the process is to screen and issue licenses for marijuana dispensaries.

Testing of cannabis and hemp is essential to determine not only quality, but the strains and strengths of the cannabis.

The City of Foley and the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance (BCEDA) worked together to bring the lab to Foley and is a direct result of the creation of the health and wellness zone in north Foley,” said Mayor Ralph Hellmich. “Our efforts are focused on bringing medical services and technologies to our citizens and our area. Green Health Laboratories are a perfect example of the high-tech industries we want to see in Foley. I welcome them and any others to our city.”

Brandon Biles the President of Green Health Laboratories said that he is excited about the partnership and expanding the company’s operations into the Gulf Coast region.

The facility will be located in an existing building on Section Avenue in Foley and will begin operations in the first quarter of 2025.

Green Health Laboratories is offering starting salaries above the average wage in Baldwin County, with an estimated payroll of over $5 million.
