SPANISH FORT, AL. A new recreation area held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday in the Bass Pro Shopping Center.
City officials, including Spanish Fort Mayor Mike McMillian, were on hand as well as representatives of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
“I am so proud of how many wonderful things we have here on the Eastern Shore, and this absolutely is a shining star, and we’re glad to be part of it,” said Casey Williams, president of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce.
The new recreation area, which is right off of Interstate 10, features a playground area, a splash pad, a pavilion with picnic tables, and six pickle ball courts, including the first ADA-accessible court in Baldwin County, according to city leaders.
McMillan said this is part of the city’s plans for expansions to recreational amenities. In September 2024, the city announced plans to fund millions of dollars into new parks and outdoor recreation. In recent months, they opened a dog park, Loyalty Park, and have plans for more, including Valor Park along Mobile Bay.
“This is for us,” McMillan said. “This is what it’s all about and what beautiful facilities we have.”
Town Center Park is located at 29000 Bass Pro Drive, which is in the northeast section of the Bass Pro Shopping Center, and is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.
