Short Pursuit Ends in DUI Arrest

MOBILE COUNTY Ala.

A short pursuit Saturday afternoon ended with the vehicle’s driver being charged with Driving
Under the Influence.

At around 2:30 p.m. an ALEA trooper tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Wilmer-Georgetown Road but the vehicle at first continued to flee but quickly pulled over for the officer.

The state trooper detained the driver, later identified as Amos Justin New, and conducted a field sobriety exam on him along with the assistance of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

New failed the exam and was arrested and transported to the Mobile Metro Jail.
