Sheriff’s Office Update Belforest Homicide

BELFOREST, Ala. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, just before 9:00 p.m., deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault on Augustine Drive in the Belforest community.
Deputies located an adult male and an adult female with apparent stab wounds and immediately rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived.
A male juvenile was detained at the scene.
The adult female was pronounced deceased due to sustained injuries. The adult male was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care.
Investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene personnel responded to investigate the incident, conduct interviews, and continue to process the scene and evidence.
The juvenile suspect has been charged with one count of Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.
The juvenile suspect’s identity will not be released at this time.
Authorities on Monday released the names of the victims: Samantha Baker, 37, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Lance Baker, 46, who was wounded.
Investigators have determined the incident was an isolated domestic matter, and there is no known threat to the public.
