FORT MORGAN, Ala. A plea for help came into the Baldwin County 911 Communications Center Thursday afternoon, July 2nd, 2026.
Authorities said that at about 12:15 p.m. dispatchers received a 911 call stating that a boat had capsized and that two or three people were on top of the boat or in the water.
The Fort Morgan Fire Department was dispatched to help locate the vessel from land while other emergency agencies including the Baldwin County Sheriff’s office, ALEA and the Coast Guard were notified to respond.
The search and rescue responders combed Mobile Bay and used GPS coordinates to better pinpoint the location of those in distress.
At about 1:14 p.m., almost one hour later, ALEA located the people and vessel and was able to get them onboard the police boat where they were later taken to the Fort Morgan Marina where EMS was waiting.
At this time there are no reports of any serious injuries or what caused the vessel emergency.
