PENSACOLA, Fla. A Robertsdale man previously charged with illicit sexual conduct with a minor has been found guilty by a federal grand jury.
David Girard, 70, from Robertsdale, Alabama has been found guilty of attempted enticement of a minor, traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of illicit sexual conduct and committing a felony involving a minor while being a registered sex offender.
Girard now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in prison.
Investigators say Girard began communicating in October of last year with someone he believed was a 14-year-old child.
He described sexual acts that he wanted to perform on the child and arranged to meet in Pensacola, but it was law enforcement that he had been communicating with.
When Girard traveled to meet the purported child, he was arrested by police.
