BIRMINGHAM, AL. A private public safety company is launching a new tool to help small law enforcement agencies, colleges, hospitals and security companies to be able to track crime in “real time” and thereby stopping criminal acts and apprehending the bad guy in their tracks.
And the RTCC will be much more than a security company’s central station monitoring a bunch of cameras.
For about a dozen years, many law enforcement agencies across the country have put together a live surveillance control center where analyst and police officers monitored cameras in high crime and high traffic areas, while also using License Plate Readers, Gunshot Detection and Facial Recognition to help officers to respond to crimes in “progress” instead of just responding after the fact.
The Real Time Crime Center is a force multiplier and allows law enforcement an opportunity to witness crimes and respond to situations as they are happening instead of after the crime has been committed.
Unified Public Safety, a private law enforcement and protective service agency has offices throughout the Southeast including Alabama and have provided public safety and protective services since 1989.
The owners are current and former law enforcement officers, each with more than forty years of experience in public safety.
Unified said that they will be partnering with both private entities as well as small to midsize law enforcement agencies, and that their 24-hour center will be staffed by highly trained and certified crime analysts and have all of the same technology that law enforcement uses in their centers.
Additionally, the Unified Real Time Crime Center is a member of the National Real Time Crime Center Association and other professional security and law enforcement organizations and associations.
Unified Public Safety said that their Real Time Crimes Centers will be located in Huntsville and in South Alabama and will be operational by the end of the year.
