PRICHARD, AL. A local police officer who worked as a detective investigating crimes, including homicides, now stands accused of committing serious crimes himself.
At a news conference held by law enforcement, it was revealed that a multiple agency law enforcement operation has uncovered alleged corruption within the Prichard Police Department, officials announced at a news conference Tuesday morning.
Emanuel Naman Dotch II, an officer with the Prichard Police, is in custody accused of taking bribes, concealing evidence and assisting criminal suspects in covering up their crimes and avoiding prosecution, officials said.
Dotch also once worked for the Mobile Police Department.
According to authorities, Dotch has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on federal charges and booked into jail.
Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood announced that effectively immediately all crimes within the city of Prichard would be investigated by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
