Police Investigating After Two Women Shot Sitting in a Vehicle

MOBILE, Ala. Two women sitting in a vehicle on Rapier Avenue near the intersection of Texas Street were shot as they were talking on Tuesday morning at around 9:00 a.m.
After the 911 communications center received calls about the shooting in the 300 block of Rapier, Mobile Fire-Rescue and Mobile Police responded to the scene.
A surveyor in the area and several other people reported hearing the gunshots several blocks away.
Police said that it appears that the two women were shot by a person that they were familiar with.
Investigators are still working to piece together the details.
“At this point, we don’t know a motive. We do not know their identities. We haven’t received updates from the hospital on their conditions. As you can see, it’s all just unfolding, and detectives are on the scene trying to sort things out,’ said Chief William Jackson with the Mobile Police Department.
The incident has left the neighborhood shocked and wondering what led to the violence.
“Actually the neighborhood is pretty quiet. We don’t get too many shootings, violence or anything on Texas Street,” said a neighbor.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Chief Jackson said this is a very active investigation.
