Police Charge Two with Storage Facility Burglaries

MOBILE Ala.

Police were notified that several people were breaking into storage units on Monday, October 21, 2024, at approximately 1:18 p.m.

Mobile police officers responded to the 2600 block of Schillinger Road S. (Storage Rentals of America) and upon arrival, officers discovered several subjects still at the location.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered the subjects had unlawfully entered a storage unit and that they had possession of stolen property.

Police took Jerry Slater, 49, and Wanda Layton, 71, into custody and both were arrested and transported to Metro Jail and charged with BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE.

Additional arrests are possible. This remains an active investigation.
