PENSACOLA, Fla. One person is dead and another has been injured in a motorcycle crash in Florida.

Sadly, the crash has claimed the life of a Pensacola police officer.

Detective Angela Nieto, who was off duty, died at the scene, according to Mike Wood with the Pensacola Police Department.

Police are still investigating but said that the wreck occurred at Pace Boulevard and Barrancas Avenue about 8 p.m. Wednesday, causing lane closures and shutting down the bridge over Bayou Chico.

Police said Nieto was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by a male friend. The driver was eastbound on the Barrancas bridge over Bayou Chico when he lost control in a curve and crashed, killing Nieto, Wood said.
