Concerns about an odor this morning at a Baldwin County school led to a complete evacuation of the Foley Middle School and a response from the Foley Fire Department.
School officials and a school resource officer became concerned about an odor that was permeating throughout the school and tried to track down where it was coming from.
At the time, the school had people working on the roof but they did not believe that it was connected to the smell.
The fire department was called in at around 10:30 a.m. and responded while students were told that it was a fire drill as they were escorted to an outside area.
Firefighters used several devices that detect invisible gases and searched the inside of the building but could not determine exactly what the odor was or where it was coming from and deemed the building safe.
The students returned to class and the school continued their daily operations.
