Mobile Police Warning Residents About Recent Scammers

MOBILE, AL. The Mobile Police are once again warning residents about scammers calling and representing themselves as law enforcement.

Scammers are once again spoofing Mobile Police Department phone numbers and asking the person on the other end of the line to pay outstanding fines.

Mobile police said that their officers will never call you to collect any payment over the phone.

In the latest incident, the scammer told the female she needed to pay outstanding fines, and they told her to verify the phone number they were calling from on Google (which shows up as an MPD number). Then, they gave her a second phone number to call to pay the fines.

Fortunately, she did not disclose any information.
