GULF SHORES, Ala. It’s official! The “Sand in my Boots” tour is once again heading to the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores in 2027.
This big musical event is scheduled for May 20–23, 2027 and will no doubt bring tens of thousands of concertgoers to our community once again.
The promoters said that the multi-day event will be right before summer officially starts and will give the area a big jump start on the season.
Last year, Gulf Shores officials decided to take a break and did not schedule any concerts at the city’s beach front.
Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft explained that because contract negotiations and public input meetings extended into the summer, organizers lacked sufficient time to secure the city’s required caliber of talent for 2026. Rather than rushing the lineup or reverting to older formats, the city and organizers agreed to skip 2026 to ensure enough lead time to recruit top-tier artists for the 2027 return.
The event originally debuted in 2010 as the Hangout Music Festival, selling out to fans of all ages.
In May of 2025, country superstar Morgan Wallen and promoters AEG rebranded the festival, calling it “Sand in my Boots”. With Wallen personally curating the lineup, the festival shifted its musical focus toward country, Southern rap, indie, and rock artists.
The event was sold-out, selling 40,000 tickets.
Police noticed a big drop in arrests, just 37 compared to 94 during the 2024 event.
The crowds were also spending more money at area restaurants and businesses up and down the beach and along the Highway 59 corridor.
Local business owners are excited about the return and hope for even bigger crowds in 2027 since last year’s absence caused a substantial revenue loss for many area businesses.
Past musical festivals have generated up to $60 million in total economic impact for the region.
