Mobile Police Officer Exposed to Fentanyl Uses Narcan on Himself

MOBILE, Ala. A Mobile Police Department officer who responded to a call was exposed to fentanyl and had to react quickly, giving himself a dose of Narcan (Naloxone) to counteract the effects of the drug.
Mobile police said that the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. on July 18th near Selma Street and Rapier Avenue.
The officer responded to a call of a suspicious person, and while contacting someone, the officer was exposed to the drug.
After using Narcan on himself, the officer was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover from the exposure.
This remains an active investigation.
