MOBILE, Ala. Mobile Police conducted a forty-eight-hour traffic enforcement blitz to keep both motorists and pedestrians safe.
This effort comes less than a week after three pedestrians were struck by vehicles within seventy-two hours.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson released some figures on the traffic citations issued by the Mobile Police Department during the 48-hour period this week.
Over the course of 48 hours, officers wrote 114 citations for traffic violations and issued another 39 warnings. The majority of those were for speeding. We’ve seen some recent accidents caused by dangerous driving, and I appreciate the department organizing this operation. Our officers are on the streets, and they’re writing tickets.
Officers were in Midtown last week, focusing on intersections and thoroughfares along Government Street, Michigan Avenue, Florida Street, Dauphin Street, Sage Avenue, and Springhill Avenue.
