Mobile Police Identify Two Pedestrians Killed Over The Weekend

The Mobile Police responded over the weekend to two separate accidents involving fatalities of pedestrians.
At the time of the wrecks, police were still investigating the wrecks and did not release the identities of the two persons killed but on Monday, they did identify both persons.
On Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Airport Boulevard and Cody Road in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim deceased.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim was struck by a vehicle as he was attempting to cross Cody Road.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. The victim has been identified as Mark Cooper, 65. This remains an active investigation.
On the following day, another pedestrian fatality occurred in the city.
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at approximately 8:24 p.m., officers responded to southbound I-65 near Airport Boulevard in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim deceased.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered a vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was attempting to cross the interstate.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was not charged.
The victim has been identified as Ryan Schwerdtfeger, 56.
Mobile police did not release any further details about either fatal accident.
