The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and police responded to a hazmat incident after a tanker rollover on the I-65 Service Road near Moffett Road.
The area was shut down while the fire department assessed the situation.
The truck, which can carry up to 1,000 gallons of sewage, was reportedly carrying around 400 gallons of liquid.
“Heavy Rescue 25 and Engine 12 initially used dirt from near the scene to dam and dike any runoff from the incident before it could reach waterways,” according to the fire department. “They also used several bags of oil-dry on the wet road surface.”
MFRD officials said the driver was treated on the scene and taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The area was shut down for several hours.
