Mississippi Police Officer Arrested For Extortion, Blackmail of Illegal Migrant

GULFPORT MS. A Mississippi police officer is accused of using his position to extort a person who is in the country illegally.
According to court documents, Antonio Artez Wade, 36, an officer with the Ruleville Police Department, conducted a traffic stop of “Victim 1” on September 17.
After learning the victim did not have identification or legal status, Wade indicated that he could help the victim in exchange for money, resulting in the victim paying Wade $2,500.
Wade was arrested on Sunday in Gulfport for charges related to the alleged extortion of an illegal immigrant.
Wade faces extortion, blackmail, and deprivation of rights under color of law charges.
If convicted, Wade faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
