Gulf Shores Woman Injured When Man Tries To Steal Her Dog

GULF SHORES, Ala. Police are investigating an unusual incident that occurred at an apartment complex and caution residents to always stay alert to their surroundings.
Police said that a woman was injured during an attack while she was walking her dog on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, shortly after 11 p.m.
The Gulf Shores Police Department were called to the One Club apartments on Oak Road East. Investigators say the victim was outside walking her dog around the property when she was confronted by a man. He demanded that she hand over the animal.
When the woman refused, the man, who police have now identified, punched the victim in the face, causing her to be injured.
Detectives said that 37-year-old Brandon Demarcus Harris is wanted for several crimes in this incident.
Police said that Harris is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. His current location is unknown, but police believe he may still be in the area.
Detectives are continuing their investigation as officers search for Harris. Authorities warned residents not to approach him if spotted. Instead, police are encouraging anyone who sees him to immediately contact the Gulf Shores Police Department at 251-968-2431.
Police stressed that community awareness is important in helping locate Harris. The department reminded residents that situations like these can unfold quickly and urged everyone to use caution if they come across the suspect. Investigators are hopeful that continued tips from the public will help bring the case to a close.
