GULF SHORES, Ala.
The Gulf Shores Police Department has an urn that they’d love to return to the rightful owner.
Police said that the urn washed ashore, and a person called them to the 1600 block of West Beach Boulevard on Thursday, April 17th, 2025.
Police arrived and talked to the reporting party and then left, with a mystery and an urn.
“Whether by divine intervention, the gulf current, or perhaps the departed’s desire to stay close, the urn made its way back to shore,” read a GSPD Facebook post.
Police said that they checked and there is no identifying marks, names, or other contact information which is making it difficult for them to get the loved one back to their family.
Police said they hope to be able to return the urn to the family and to help carry out their final wishes.
Anyone who can help identify the urn and reunite it with the family can contact GSPD at 251-968-2431 or by emailing them at gspdpio@gulfshoresal.gov.
