FOLEY, Ala. A woman struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in Foley three weeks ago is still seeking answers, as police have not made any arrests.
Just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, Ashley Funk was walking to a convenience store at the corner of County Road 65 and 26. She was waiting to cross the road, and the next thing that she remembers is waking up at a hospital.
Funk says that things are still a bit fuzzy as she is still recuperating from her injuries that she sustained after a vehicle hit her and then fled.
A passerby found her at called 911, and emergency responders arrived soon afterwards, treated her on scene, and transported her to an area hospital.
Funk’s injuries were substantial, including a shattered elbow, crushed pelvis, and a collapsed lung, among other injuries that kept her in the hospital for almost a month.
She says she is getting better every day, but she still has no idea what happened.
Although police immediately began investigating the hit and run, which is a serious felony because of Funk’s injuries, there has been very little to go on and few leads that have come in.
ALEA is the leading agency on the case, and troopers are still investigating.
